Jim is an associate with Gehrke & Associates, S.C. His practice focuses on trademarks, copyrights, Internet law, licensing, contracts, business law, corporate law, local government law and government relations.
Jim earned a B.A. in History from Marquette University and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School with AmJur awards in Constitutional Law and Securities Regulation. Jim is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar Association (WBA). He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Sports & Entertainment Law and Business Law Sections of the WBA. He has served on several committees of the WBA, including, the IT & E-Commerce Committee, Professionalism Committee and Solo and Small Firm Practice Committee. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Association (WIPLA) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPA). He is a facilitator in the Medical College of Wisconsin's Bioethics Program. He serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations. He is also the Executive Director of Wisconsin Advanced Technology Advocates, Inc..
Prior to law school, Jim served with a Congressional Support Agency in Washington, D.C. He returned to Washington, D.C. following his law school graduation and was involved in national lobbying activities as well as general corporate legal services. Before joining Gehrke & Associates, S.C., Jim worked as a legislative attorney in the Wisconsin State Senate.
